Beauty Haul and First Impressions: Bourjois Edition

On Friday Dave and I made an impromptu trip into town as I wanted to buy an extra large canvas to paint. The art supply shop just so happens to be next door to Boots so it would have been rude to have not paid a visit – right?

Most of the make-up brands were having a 3for2 within their own brand so naturally I gravitated towards Bourjois.

Bourjois is definitely my high street make-up brand of choice, especially when it comes to foundation. The Healthy Mix Serum Foundation from Bourjois is an absolute holy grail product for me, as is their CC Cream. However the recent launch of the Air Mat Foundation was not a winner for me as the lightest shade was too dark for me – check out my full review here – Review: Bourjois Air Mat Foundation.

Bourjois: City Radiance Foundation

I wanted to love this foundation but alas it let me down. I love the packaging and that it contains SPF30 and promises to boost the radiance of the skin. I also love the creamy soft texture of the foundation which melts into the skin and initially looks beautiful….. but that’s where my love ends.

As you can see from the above photo the foundation has a distinct orange tone after a couple of minutes. For some reason it oxidises on my skin. I am wearing this foundation in the photo below and once I used a light concealer and powder it does not look too orange toned on the skin. It is just so frustrating that it reacts this way on my skin.

It is a super hydrating foundation which did even out my skin tone and gave it a healthy glow. If you look really closely at my skin you will see that the foundation has a very subtle shimmer. I really want to love this foundation and it is amazing apart from the oxidising to a darker shade. So disappointing.

Bourjois: Aqua Blush Nude

This was a total the YouTuber-made-me-buy-it moment. I watched Esteé Lalonde’s latest video which coincidentally was a drugstore haul and I fell in love with this beautiful nude blush shade. I have tried these cream liquid blushes before (check out Review: Bourjois Aqua Blush 12h) therefore I knew I liked the product.

This is a very subtle and soft peachy brown toned nude blush, perfect as we step into spring. I am wearing all of these Bourjois products in my photo below so you can see just how subtle the blush is.

Bourjois: Souffle de Velvet, Ravie en Rose

These Souffle de Velvet lipsticks are a new edition to the Bourjois liquid lipsticks. I knew I was going to love these and I absolutely do, I will need to grab a couple more colours.

These are sheer matte liquid lipsticks which are really unusual. It did take some getting used to when applying this because it does not build to an opaque finish. Once the lipstick dries it leaves a beautiful balm like stain to the lips which gradually wears down evenly through out the day. As you can see from the photo above the colour in the tube does not translate as bold and bright on the lips. Such a subtle lip look for Spring.

Thanks for reading, do let me know if you have tried any of these products. Do you have any tips for me on how to stop foundation oxidising? I love reading and replying to your comments.

  1. That’s such a shame about the foundation, I have been debating trying it but now I’m a bit unsure as I think my skin tone is quite similar to yours.
