I had been eagerly waiting the release of the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Limited Edition Collection lipsticks since I got a sample in the Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette. If you missed my review post of the beautiful Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Eyeshadow Palette then check out the link!
First of lets talk about the packaging. This is my first experience of a lipstick by Urban Decay so I can not compare to others from the brand. I do love the bold Art Deco inspired gold and black packaging for the lipstick tube. However, the plastic tube does, dare I say, make the lipstick feel a bit cheap and for £16 each I was expecting something a bit more chic and stylish.
However the colour range and formulas of these lipstick are incredible so do not let the packaging put you off!
There are eight lipstick shades available in this limited edition Gwen Stefani collaboration with Urban Decay. When I think of Gwen Stefani I think of bold red lips and her collection does have five beautiful red lipsticks but I just fell in love with these two shades.
I have a very pale skin tone very similar to Gwen herself and this collection of make-up are actually pieces which Gwen would reach for herself – therefore the shades may not suit everyone.
Ex-Girlfriend is the only sheer formula of the collection which means it is super hydrating whilst giving a light wash of colour. I absolutely adore this formulation as it actually feels like a nourishing lipbalm on the lips.
I had also been searching for my perfect nude lipstick and this is absolutely spot on for me. It has just the right balance of brown and pink – just beautiful. I really hope this becomes part of the standard range of lipsticks at Urban Decay as I need Ex-Girlfriend in my life forever!
I really didn’t expect to fall in love with this bold hot pink shade as it is a massive departure from the nude pinks or reds that are in my lipstick stash.
I am however blown away by this stunning shade and have had several compliments when I have worn this.
Firebird has a cream finish which I would say is a cross between a MAC Satin and Amplified finishes.
This lipstick has a beautiful creamy texture which effortlessly glides on the lips and packs a stunning opaque pop of colour.
The wear time on this lipstick really surprised me as the formula is extremely comfortable on the lips and not drying at all. The sheen and colour gradually fades throughout the day but it fades evenly to leave a gorgeous stain to the lips which lasts ALL day! I was bowled over by the longevity.
All-in-all I absolutely adore the Gwen Stefani collaboration with Urban Decay and am dying to get my hands on a couple more lipsticks and the blush palette. A definite winner for me. Worth the hype!
What do you think of these lipsticks? Have you tried anything from the collection? Thanks for reading and I love reading and replying to your comments.
