I am a massive fan of Bourjois as a quality drug store make up brand. Their Healthy Mix Serum foundation is a firm staple in my make up routine; it is the perfect balance of medium coverage which gives a healthy radiant glow to the skin. I also adore their CC Cream – if you missed my full review then check out my ‘Bourjois CC Cream – It’s A Grower‘ post.
Given this legacy I was excited to hear that Bourjois were releasing a matte foundation and had high hopes. I have recently been loving the Infallible Matte foundation by L’Orèal enjoying it’s full flawless coverage which has been working suprisingly well with my dry skin (check out my full review here).
This Air Mat foundation from Bourjois promises to deliver an undetectable matte finish with 24hr hold which is light as air and allows your skin to breath.
The colour range in this foundation is very poor, I picked up the lightest shade 01 Rose Ivory and intially it looked like a good match to my pale skin. However once this is buffed into the skin the foundation has an orange undertone to it and as the day wears on I think the foundation oxidises to a much darker tone which left me with orange streaks – not a good look.
I could also feel the foundation on my skin throughout the day and it seemed greasy on my skin. The initial matte finish was very short lived and my usually dry skin appeared oily! I have tried this foundation several times, applied it using a brush, a RT complexion sponge and my fingers and each time I have got the same disappointing results.
I really wanted to love this foundation but it is definitely not the right one for my skin. That’s not to say it wouldn’t work well on your skin, but for me it was a disappointment. I will not be repurchasing!
Have you tried this foundation? What was your experience? I love reading and replying to your comments.
