Can’t quite believe its Weekly Round-Up time again! We are nearing the end of September so the beautiful Autumn season is in full swing – I am loving the deep red hues which adore the trees at the moment as the leaves transform through the stunning autumnal colours getting ready to drop to the ground for winter. The mornings are gradually becoming darker and crisper – absolutely love it. As October draws ever closer so does my birthday month!
The themes of this week have been skincare, make-up, weddings and of course food!
FOTD: Skincare & Make-Up
For the past few weeks my skin has been breaking out all over the place. I’m not sure if it’s been because of the change in the weather, hormones or an allergy to something but my skin has not been happy! Thankfully as this week ticked by it gradually calmed down and I do believe this has been in part to some Clarins skincare; namely the wonderful gentle refiner exfoliating cream – fantastic product! If you missed my Clarins Haul post then check it out here.
Luckily my skin calmed down ready for my friends wedding on Saturday. Above is a photo of my Face Of The Day/ Make-Up Of The Day for the wedding. I’ve been loving the L’Oréal Infallible Matte Foundation recently and I’ve been loving Solar Powder by Soap & Glory. I used the stunning gold shade Half Baked from my Naked 2 Eyeshadow Palette, used a eyeliner pen and finished my eyes with lashings of the Lash Sensational Mascara by Maybelline. On my lips is the gorgeous Clarins Joli Rouge Lipstick in the shade Rosewood.
Wedding: Friends & Food
On Saturday Dave and I made our way to Rutland for the wedding of my friend Cat & fiancé Alex. The weather was incredible, warm with very little breeze and beautiful blue skies! We could not have asked for more perfect weather in late September.
We got to Rutland Water rather early as we were not sure on parking or how long it would take me to walk to the church as I struggle with my energy and stamina. We decided to get a leisurely lunch (whilst in our finest wedding attire) at the Italian restaurant at Rutland Water. We ordered the margarita pizza which we shared three ways as we were meeting another friend for the wedding. The pizza was very tasty, but not the best I’ve ever had and the service was very confusing and chaotic despite the restaurant being pretty much empty of customers!
The church itself was just beautiful. It’s perched on the edge of the water and the ceremony actually took place it what was the roof of the old church as the main body had been submerged many years ago. I felt very privileged to be part of my friends big day, she looked absolutely beautiful in a white fitted fishtail off the shoulder dress covered in delicate lace with a hint of sparkle.
After the ceremony we headed into Stamford to a hotel for the wedding breakfast and reception.
For main I has salmon, roasted new potatoes, green beans and broccoli. This was really light and super tasty. The salmon was cooked perfectly and I really enjoyed the vegetables – I just love green beans and broccoli!
I finished off the wedding breakfast with the lemon tart with blackcurrant sorbet. This was the star of the meal! Beautifully tangy lemon tart with sharp refreshing blackcurrant sorbet which fused so well together. The pastry of the tart was crisp and was reminiscent of shortbread, absolutely scrumptious! Yummy!
The wedding cake was made by the mother of the groom. A large three tiered masterpiece with Victoria sponge, chocolate brownie and lemon layers filled with jam and various buttercreams. Looked impressive and tasted spectacular.
The wedding was such a lovely day. Cat and Alex looked so happy and totally in love, such a fun and enjoyable day. Great to share the day with so many wonderful people and to celebrate the start of Cat and Alex’s journey and adventures together!
I hope you have enjoyed my weekly round-up. What have you been doing this week? I love reading and replying to your comments.
