In today’s post I thought I would do something a little bit different. Let me introduce to you the battle of the Mascara Wars!
I have been loving Benefit’s Rollerlash since it was launched earlier in the year. It is the perfect mascara for me, it lengthens, defines and sets a curl in my lashes – all without the need for eye lash curlers! Incredible. However it does come with a hefty price tag of £19.50 and I have found the formula in the tube dries out quickly.
The tube is very cute with its trademark Benefit retro style. The wand of this mascara is plastic and the actual brush head is curved to fit snugly into the shape of your lashes. The brush is covered in tiny plastic bristles of varying lengths which grab hold of your lashes coating them in the mascara to define and lengthen and sets them into a curl. Fantastic. Love it.
- Lengthens and defines lashes
- Lifts & achieves a curl which lasts
- Quirky retro packaging
- Hefty price tag
- Mascara tube dries out quickly
Maybelline: Lash Sensational
I picked up this mascara on a 3 for 2 offer a couple of months ago and I have to say I am impressed. This retails at a mere £7.99 a tube some an awful lot cheaper and budget friendly than the Benefit Rollerlash.
I love the cute satin pink tube and similar to the Benefit Rollerlash this mascara also has a plastic wand and brush head. The brush head on this mascara is wider than the Rollerlash one, however it applies beautifully hugging every single lash to define and lengthen in a similar way.
The formula of this mascara is much more wet in consistency than Rollerlash so does take longer to dry and set. Interestingly when I applied a couple of coats of this mascara I managed to achieve a very similar lift and curl effect to my lashes – comparable to Rollerlash. However, an incredible lift and curl can be created using eye lash curlers followed by this mascara.
- Lengthens & defines lashes
- Lift and can achieve a curl with some perseverance
- Works best with eyelash curlers
So who won the battle of the mascara wars? I do absolutely love Rollerlash and for me it wins the crown for the best Benefit mascara but it does not win the battle of the mascara wars.
The winner of the mascara wars goes to:
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
