Nail Care Routine: Rimmel Daisy Days

I love painting my nails and thought I would try a bright nail polish I bought several weeks ago but I just wasn’t sure if it was the right shade of yellow for me. I thought I would also incorporate a quick run through of my current nail care routine. I hope you enjoy!

L-R: OPI Nail Envy, Essie Apricot Cuticle Oil, Rimmel Daisy Days, Nails Inc Kensington Caviar Top Coat, Sally Hansen 18k Gold Cuticle Eraser, OPI Crystal Nail File

1. Preparing The Nail

First off I will remove any polish which is on the nail ensuring the nail bed is completely clean and clear.

I then massage a tiny amount of the Sally Hansen 18k Gold Cuticle Eraser into the cuticle of each nail. This is a moisturising and exfoliating treatment for the cuticle which softens and scrubs away any dry bits. I then wash my hands to rinse the excess off and then gently use the pusher cap of the cuticle eraser to carefully push back the cuticle and buff away any skin left on the nail bed.

I also always use this Crystal Nail File by OPI to tidy up and shape my nails. I have had this file for years – literally years! Because it’s made of glass it is super hard wearing and all you need to do is rinse it in some water to freshen it up – it will NEVER wear down. This has been a great investment for me. It also is really smoothing on the nail – doesn’t snag or weaken the nail. Love it.

2. Base Coat

I always use a base coat and the only one I’ve repurchased time and time again is the OPI Nail Envy. Not only is it a fantastic base coat for any nail polish to ensure a smooth and long lasting finish it is also an incredible nail treatment and strengthener. I cannot be without this miracle nail treatment! It has absolutely transformed the condition of my nails – I used to be a biter for years with weak, brittle, chewed up nails; Nail Envy has been a game changer for me. My nails are now strong and healthy.

3. Colour – Rimmel: Daisy Days

I decided to give this bold bright yellow shade part of the Rita Ora range by Rimmel called Daisy Days another try.

I do love the consistency and the curved shape of the wide brush of these Rimmel nail polishes.

It did take three coats to get an even opaque finish to the colour. This polish also dries super quick so three coats doesn’t take long to set.

4. Top Coat

I also always use a good top coat when I paint my nails. Not only does it create a super glossy and precise finish to your manicure it also helps to seal the nail colour to elongate the wear time before chipping.

I love this Kensington Caviar Top Coat by Nails Inc. It is really fast drying and creates a flawless and glossy finish to the nail. Perfect.

5. Cuticle Oil

I also just couldn’t be without cuticle oil! I have been using this Apricot Cuticle Oil by Essie for a few months now and I am impressed. It is really affordable and is giving my beloved OPI Avoplex Oil a good run for its money and it’s a fraction of the price!

This has a really subtle apricot scent which is lovely and the oil is super nourishing and hydrating on the cuticle and nail.

I use cuticle oil at least once a day. I massage a couple of drops into my cuticles each morning to refresh and hydrate my manicure – this encourages nail health and growth and boosts the staying power of your manicure.

I also always use cuticle oil to speed up the drying time of my manicure. After the top coat is touch-dry I gently apply a small amount of this oil to the cuticle and lightly over the whole of each nail to set the polish. After a few minutes I will gently massage the oil into the cuticle and skin surrounding the nail – the perfect way to finish off any manicure.

Let me know what you think. Do you have any tips or recommendations for me to try? I love reading and replying to all your comments.

  1. I have never seen a crystal nail file but that will be my next beauty buy. I loveee both getting my nails done and doing them myself, so it was great to see your routine as well 🙂 I also like to soak mine in warm water, even for just a minute to moisten the cuticles before I push them down!
