Weekly Round Up #4

So this week has been a busy, stressful, eventful and mostly a very hot week!

Allergies

With temperatures reaching a very sticky and humid 30 degrees celsius in the UK I must admit I have been struggling. I don’t like to moan about the hot weather, as we aren’t blessed with many days of sunshine but when it is hot in the UK it is so humid, stifling with no breeze. I have lots of allergies, hayfever being one of them and to top it off I have a bizarre allergy to UV…. So the sunny humid weather does not agree with me! My allergies have been so bad this week that when I breathe I actually sound like a dementor!! (scary ghost like figure in Harry Potter). Not only have I been struggling with congestion and breathing but my UV allergy causes hundreds of tiny fluid filled bumps to cover my skin which is exposed to the sun, mostly on my arms and hands, itchy sore bumps which look painful and generally not very nice 😔. Oh the joys of being a pale skinned woman in the British Summer Time!

House Moving

So the past week has been a whirlwind! Our house was on the market for a mere 24 hours and we already had four viewings booked in! We also saw a lovely detached bungalow we fell in love with last week and put an offer on. This week an offer was confirmed for the buyer of our house and our offer was accepted on the bungalow! This has happened so quickly it is quite astonishing, I have to pinch myself as I can’t quite believe it!

Food

To celebrate (hopefully) moving house we went to Carluccio’s on Monday night. I love Italian food and really struggled to choose between the wonderful pasta, fish and risotto dishes on offer.

Grandioso Sharing Platter – Focaccia, pancetta wrapped prawns, salami, Parma ham, pepper and pesto topped bruschetta, buffalo mozzarella

Gnocchi Al Gorgonzola
 Gin and Prosecco Cocktail

All of the food was absolutely delicious – I felt so full that I couldn’t finish the gnocchi; it was so so good. A lovely evening with my man sharing some beautiful Italian food to celebrate our exciting future together 😊.

On Thursday we both had the day off work as I needed a blood test and we went to see a mortgage advisor. We decided to grab some breakfast in town before our early appointment – it was so lovely to have a delicious and relaxing cooked-for-me breakfast.

We went to Wetherspoons in town and I chose the Eggs Royale – soft smoked salmon topped with a poached egg and hollandaise sauce on a lightly toasted English muffin with rocket (I’m not entirely convinced the rocket was needed!). This was really filling and only cost £4.59 with a drink included – bargain!

Friday involved eating lots of scrumptious juicy strawberries and finishing off the working week with a cheeky pizza from Domino’s!

Classic base with tandoori chicken, mushrooms, peppers and pineapple – delicious!

No Spending July

So I decided that I needed to curb my spending, especially as we hope to buy a new home together which needs an awful lot of redecoration and renovation so we will need some savings to get the place how we want it to be.

Inspired by the lovely Ana over at Ravishing Roses I decided to not buy any extra beauty and make-up products throughout the month of July. I did however still buy my regular monthly magazines and this month have some great beauty and make-up freebies – I don’t count these as extras so these don’t count as spending in July 😊. Check out my full blog post about these great freebies here

Stunning neon Ciaté nail polish free in this months magazines!

Giveaway Winner!

This week also marked the end of my 100 Follower – Thankyou Giveaway! I entered all the names of the people who entered into an online random generator and the lovely Annie from Annie’s Beauty Blog was the lucky winner!

I now have over 200 followers which I can’t quite believe – I appreciate each and every one of you, I never expected so many of you lovely people to be interested in my musings. Starting my blog has been such a positive aspect in my life – thank you!

I hope you have enjoyed my weekly round-up. It’s been interesting doing these kind of posts as I realise we eat out… a lot! We definitely need to cut back on eating out. Hopefully next week I can include more photos of our home-cooked creations as I do really enjoy cooking – I find it creative and somewhat therapeutic.
