Magazine Freebies: No Spending July

I have been inspired by the lovely Ana over at Ravishing Roses and her #NoSpendingJune to put my own finances on hold when it comes to buying new beauty and make-up products.

Over the past few months I have bought a lot of new make-up and beauty products and I want to put the brakes on my spending, especially as we are in the process of buying a lovely new home together which needs a LOT of renovation and redecorating so every spare penny will be useful!

So this month will be #NoSpendingJuly which means I will not be spending any money on beauty and make-up products for a whole month. I bought a few bits in June which I haven’t blogged about yet so they will be posted about soon. I have decided that catching up with my monthly magazines doesn’t count in my #NoSpendingJuly as I get them every month so are not extras as such! I will also still be getting my Birchbox and Glossybox this month as they are on subscriptions 😊 – I just won’t be buying any extras!

There are some great beauty and make-up freebies in this months magazines so I am hoping these will make this months spending ban more bareable!

Marie Claire

This months Marie Claire have some gorgeous nail polish duos from Ciaté free with the magazine. There are 6 different polishes to collect with its own top coat and each is 80’s inspired! Each duo is worth £10.

As you all probably know I have a massive obsession with nail polish and I really struggled to pick which duo I wanted! In the end I was stuck between a gorgeous shimmery silver shade and the beautiful neon orange shade I plumped for.

This duo is called Flashdance, the neon orange shade is called Cha Cha Cha and the top coat is called Black Light Top Coat – this has a UV sheen to it so I am assuming it will glow in UV light!

This is my first experience with the Ciaté brand and I am impressed. The top photo is of two coats on the orange colour – it applies well and has a great wide brush making precise application easier to achieve. This polish dried to a more matte or satin finish – it was not super glossy. After two coats it is still quite see-through so for a more opaque look I think three coats would be needed.

The second photo is after I applied the top coat. This top coat is super glossy and I think it will glow in UV light, so great if you are going to any festivals.

This is a beautiful bright bold neon orange, very different to any over polish I have in my ever growing collection. Magazine freebies are a great way to try new products. Plus in this months Marie Claire there is a 25% off discount code for buying Ciaté online which expires 6th August – perfect for my #NoSpendingJuly.

There are also some great new cid make-up freebies in this months Cosmopolitan. There is a choice between several different lip gloss shades or a mascara. I decided on the mascara which is called i – intense High Intense Volumising Mascara it is a 12ml full size and the brush is a standard bristle type brush to help build volume. I have given it a quick swipe on my eyelashes and it builds volume and defines my lashes really well. I have had a quick look on the new cid website and I cannot find this exact mascara, but their i – flutter mascara retails at £18.50.

I have never heard of this brand so this is new to me, however I was looking to try a new mascara and this was perfect for #NoSpendingJuly! There is also a 20% off new cid cosmetics valid until 30th September.

Let me know what you think. Have you picked up these great freebies? Which did you go for? Are you going to take part in #NoSpendingJuly? I love reading and replying to all your comments.
