L-R: Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish, Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic, Liz Earle Gentle Face Exfoliator, Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation, Mitchum 48hr Pure Fresh Anti-Persperant & Deodorant, Neal’s Yard Remedies Wild Rose Beauty Balm
I love reading blog posts and watching YouTube videos about empties! Going through your empties means you can give a fully rounded review as you have actually used up a whole product – so I always find empty posts to be great for discovering products I just have to try.
Now let’s dive in….
Liz Earle: Cleanse & Polish
As you all probably know I am a massive fan of Liz Earle skin care products and Cleanse & Polish is a firm staple in my skin care routine.
It has a wonderfully thick creamy texture and beautifully delicate herbal/botanical scent from the rosemary, chamomile and ecalyptus ingredients. It thoroughly cleanses your skin, melting away even the most stubborn of make-up whilst being soothing and nourishing on the skin leaving it clean, soft and revived. Absolute hero product and I always have a stash so I am never ever without this cleanser!
Liz Earle: Instant Boost Tonic
I have been using Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish and Skin Repair Moisturiser for years and years but had never consistently used a toner so thought I would give this Instant Boost Skin Tonic a go.
I have definitely been missing out! This skin tonic is so refreshing! It has a very subtle soothing scent from the aloe vera, cucumber and rose-scented geranium botanical ingredients. Just beautiful. I use a small amount on a cotton pad and sweep all over my face after cleansing and before moisturising and it gives the skin a little extra boost to ensure it is totally clean, fresh and ready for the next serum/moisturiser step. I have already purchased another bottle as I just love this.
Liz Earle: Gentle Face Exfoliator
This is definitely my favourite, doesn’t let me down, reliable face scrub. I also mentioned this in my favourite face scrubs post – check it out here.
This does exactly what the name suggests – it is super gentle on the skin, gently buffing away any dry and dull patches whilst also nourishing the skin with cocoa butter to reveal beautifully buffed and radiant skin. I always have a spare tube waiting in the wings so I am never without this wonderful face exfoliator!
Bourjois: Healthy Mix Serum Foundation
I gave into the hype and purchased this foundation several months ago. For years and years I only ever used L’Oréal’s Mineral Foundation as it was so lightweight and a great match for my skin. I had always found liquid foundations so difficult to colour match and get the right result on my skin.
That was all true until Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum entered my life and flipped all I thought I knew about foundation on its head! I have this is shade 52 vanilla which is a good match for my skin tone. This foundation has a very light creamy texture which is very fluid. I buff it into my skin using my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush which achieves a beautifully flawless finish.
This foundation is medium coverage and creates a luminous glowing finish – not matte but not super shiny either. It has fantastic lasting power – looks good all day. It is also very hydrating on the skin so great for my skin which leans on the dry side. I knew this was coming to the end so I purchased another tube so I was never without it. Great foundation – believe the hype people, believe the hype!
Mitchum: 48hr Pure Fresh Anti-Perspirant & Deodorant
I picked this up in Boots a few weeks ago after it was recommended by Fleur de Force in one of her videos. I am a sucker for a decent deodorant so I just had to give this a go. This set me back £5 so more expensive than what I would usually grab to keep me smelling fresh.
This is a cream deodorant – you just twist the bottom and cream is dispensed through the holes in the stick which you smooth on the skin on your underarms. This is (strangely) nourishing on the delicate underarm skin so great for the summer to soothe post-shave/hair removal. This also kept me fresh all day, however I’m not sure about 48 hours…. Why would you want to be fresh for 48 hours?! I do love this deodorant however it only lasted a few weeks and for £5 a go I do think this is on the more expensive side. I did however like the cream texture which was a nice change from my usual rollerball-type deodorant. I would consider a repurchase if I saw this on offer.
Neal’s Yard Remedies: Wild Rose Beauty Balm
Samantha (@samantha75bird) contacted me on Twitter and sent me a few samples from Neal’s Yard Remedies. I had never tried anything from the brand but was really interested in trying the Wild Rose Beauty Balm.
This is a 2g sample from which I was able to cleanse my face twice. It is a wonderfully thick textured balm which melts to an oil when warmed in the palms and massaged all over the face – this thoroughly cleanses the skin alongside removing every last scrap of make-up to reveal clean, fresh skin.
I absolutely fell in love with the scent of this balm. As the name suggests it contains lots of natural rose ingredients and it has quite an intense rose scent which I just adore. Reminds me of an indulgent spa treatment which you can re-create yourself in the comfort of your own home. I have another sample of this to try before I decide whether I want to purchase a full size, but I am definitely tempted. I love a good cleanser!
