L-R: Liz Earle Daily Eye Repair, Boots Vitamin E Eye Cream
In my younger years I never paid attention to taking care of my eyes – I would always cleanse (sometimes tone) and moisturise but didn’t really get why you needed to use a specific treatment product for the delicate eye area.
However since turning 30 I have started to notice the texture under and around my eyes changing which sometimes makes applying make-up difficult because it can look patchy and crease – so I decided to investigate eye treatments.
Liz Earle: EyeBright Soothing Eye Lotion
Firstly, this is not a lotion as the name suggests which is somewhat misleading. It is in fact a liquid tonic which can be put on a cotton pad and gently placed over the eye area for a soothing, refreshing pick-me-up.
This 150ml bottle is £13.25. I tend to use this in the mornings – especially after a particularly restless nights sleep when my face and eyes are in need of a freshen up. This great eye treatment contains soothing witch hazel and aloe vera – perfect for reducing any puffiness around the eyes and it definitely gives a cooling sensation. This is a great product to keep on your shelf to reach for on days when you need a little boost. This is a great 150ml size which will last ages. Another winner from Liz Earle.
Liz Earle: Daily Eye Repair
I have very sensitive eyes and wanted to try a good eye cream which wouldn’t irritate them so I thought I would start with my trusted Liz Earle as I have yet to find a product I don’t like!
I picked up this 5ml sample for £8.75 from the Liz Earle website which is a great way to try a product before fully investing. This has quite a thick luxurious cream texture and contains soothing botanicals of echinacea, borage and natural vitamin E.
I tend to use this as a night time treatment after applying a serum and before moisturising. It sinks into the delicate under eye skin area really quickly and I wake up with beautifully plumped, hydrated and brighter looking skin. This sample is still going strong so a little goes a long way.
Boots: Vitamin E Eye Cream
I picked up this 15ml tube for £2.54 from Boots. However I have noticed that the whole Vitamin E range is on offer and you can snap this up for £1.69! Real bargain!
I had read some positive reviews about this under eye cream so thought I would give it a go and I am so glad I did!
It has quite a thick cream texture which when gently tapped into the under eye area is quickly absorbed leaving it beautifully hydrated and smooth – perfect smooth base for which to apply make up for a flawless finish.
This also has a brightening quality – I wouldn’t say it has transformed my dark under eye circles but it definitely brightens and tightens the under eye area. This also contains SPF 15 which is always good to prevent sun damage and premature aging around the eyes.
I keep this little wonder tube in my make up bag and use before applying my foundation. A great little tube and at such a low price you can’t go wrong – I will definitely be repurchasing this one.
