It’s all about the Brows!

L-R: L’Oréal Brow Artist Plumper, Soap & Glory Archery, Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil

I love a good groomed eyebrow. A defined brow not only frames and lifts your face it also finishes off your look; bringing it all together.

Over the years my eyebrows have evolved from my miniscule overly plucked overly drawn dreaded teen years (it was the 90’s – think Spice Girls and All Saints inspired!) to the more natural yet defined brows I tend to sport more recently. I pluck the odd eyebrow hair below my arch to keep them neat and tidy but I do not pluck away large area of brow like I used to; I am so thankful they have grown back – I know many people who now have to constantly draw in a very fake harsh eyebrow line because of their teenage overly enthusiastic plucking!

It has taken lots of practice for me to perfect my brows – I swear by a light hand; using less product definitely packs a punch people! The three brow products I have photographed above are ones I reach for again and again – however I must note that I have yet to try a brow powder & brush product so this is why I haven’t included one – I would love to hear any recommendations you have as I would love to try one.

I have natural mousey blonde/brown hair which I lighten with blonde highlights, therefore have naturally light brown eyebrows. I do struggle to get the right shade when looking for an eyebrow product – often too brown, too much of a red undertone or too ashy grey. Colour matching brows is a tricky business.

The three photographed brow products are ones I reach for regularly and for different reasons. These are my own personal opinions so may not be the right brow product for you.

L’Oréal Brow Artist Plumper £5.99

This is a lovely gel brow mascara in the shade light/medium which was the lightest shade I could find so I’m not sure if there is a lighter one. The tiny mascara type wand is great for catching every minute eyebrow hair and covering it in the gel which gives each hair a plumper, fuller effect without over loading the brow or leaving it crunchy. This is great for when I don’t have much time and want to perk up my face without heavy make up. The colour is not perfect for me, leaning high on the brown scale so I do have to apply with a light hand. This is, however a great quick brow product which certainly ‘plumps’ as the name suggests – easy to use to achieve a groomed and defined brow. Great.

Soap & Glory Archery Brow Tint & Precision Shaping Pencil £10

I have this in the shade Love is Blonde which is a near on perfect match for me; not too brown and not too ashy. This product is dual ended; a felt-tip tint on one end and a pencil style tip the other. I use the tint first to fill any sparse gaps in my brow to achieve the perfect natural yet defined and face framing eyebrow. I then use the pencil end to create tiny hairs to finish off the perfect look. I love this brow product and use it when I have a bit more time to experiment with my make-up. I have been using this for several months now and the pencil end is still going strong but the felt-tip end is running low or drying out which is frustrating. I will definitely be repurchasing.

Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil £2.99

An oldie but a goodie! I have been using this since my late teens and it’s something I have repurchased time and time again. I have it in the shade hazel which again is a fairly good match for me but it does lean more towards the brown end of the scale so I have to ensure I don’t use with a heavy hand! I love the little brush on the pencil lid which I use to brush through my eyebrows to neaten up before going in with the pencil to fill any gaps and define. This is a traditional pencil so it does need to be sharpened which I find annoying purely on grounds of being somewhat lazy and not wanting to rummage round the deeper realms of my make-up bag to seek out a sharpener!

If I’m going for a really made-up make-up look then I will use all three brow products to achieve a super groomed and defined look which really frames my face and makes a bold eye statement – fabulous.

Hope you have enjoyed my mini-review. I would love to try a powder & brush type eyebrow product so would welcome any recommendations. I love reading and replying to your comments, thank you for all your support!
