Weekly Roundup: #2

My first weekly roundup was well received last week so I thought I would make it a regular Sunday post.

Monday

I returned back to work after a few weeks off with poor health. I was of course anxious and worrying about what would confront me – my worries were however unfounded, lots to catch up on but fine. My energy levels are still very up and down so I am thankful I have a gradual phased return to work, building up my hours and stamina. I have also decided to leave my laptop at work – so as not to be tempted to work at home. So far this seems to be a good helpful decision. As means to celebrate my return to work my lovely boyfriend took me out to Zak’s which is an local American Diner chain. I had an American cream of soda and the Blue Vein Burger (beef burger topped with blue cheese sauce) with curly fries and a side of onion rings (to share…. didnt really need them as I couldn’t finish my dinner! Too many curly fries!).

Tuesday
Tuesday was mostly getting excited about the post arriving with my Glossybox and my Liz Earle goodies. (Check out both posts here: Glossybox and Liz Earle). Therefore Tuesday mostly consisted of painting my nails with the fabulous Essence nail polish in my Glossybox. Such a beautiful turquoise shade shot with shimmer – reminds me of mermaids! I love the colour, however this chipped within a few hours – so longetivity is not so good.
Wednesday

Another work day – slowly getting back into the routine by responding to duty calls and emergency situations.  Came home and made this yummy lunch of salad, cous cous, olives and advocado – I have quite an obsession with advocado at the moment.

Thursday

A lazy day which consisted mostly of catching up with TV. I am loving Pretty Little Liars (who is Charles?!), E4’s Jane the Virgin and Nashville at the moment.

Friday

Back at work day – lots of driving around the county; I am definitely getting back into the swing of things. After work I met up with a friend for dinner at Nando’s – Quinoa salad with medium Peri Peri chicken and a side of sweet potato wedges – soo good!

Then we went to an independent cinema screening of the film London Road which is a musical (yes a musical!) about the residents of London Road Ipswich around the time of the murders of the the five prostitutes in 2006 by serial killer Steven Wright ‘The Suffolk Strangler’. It was an interesting film which starred Olivia Coleman and was based around the comments made by the London Road residents during the 6 week reign of terror where prostitutes were being targeting and a killer was on the loose. The accents of the actors in the film were somewhat questionable – at times there were definite West Country twangs! A West Country accent and a Suffolk accent is not the same! The film left me and my friend with an uncomfortable feeling – not sure if I liked it or not. Below is a link to the trailer on YouTube if you fancy a watch.

Saturday

Saturday my boyfriend and I were up bright and early and braved the rain and bizarre muggy weather to head into town. Of course we just had to swing by Boots for me to peruse the fabulous beauty and make-up aisles – check out my haul here.

The rest of the day consisted of housework and pampering; getting ready for celebrating my best friends 30th birthday

We had a fabulous time celebrating the beautiful Steph’s 30th. Yummy food in Prezzo, lots of wine, prosecco, birthday cake and of course topping the night off in a local cocktail bar with a Gin Cocktail – our nod to National Gin Day.
Sunday

I was awake surprisingly early as started the day catching up with YouTube Videos – Essie Button Vlogs, Hello October and I Covet Thee. My boyfriend cooked a lovely breakfast of avocado and fried egg on toast – just yummy. We are now off to my boyfriends parents for a traditional Sunday lunch – the perfect Sunday!

Also, this week marks the end of Foster Care Fortnight – remember to check out BBC 2 at 10pm tonight for the second instalment of the documentary ‘Protecting Our Foster Kids’. A raw and confronting portrayal of the experiences of children and young people in foster care and the professionals and systems supporting them – not easy viewing, but definitely thought provoking.

Hope you have enjoyed my weekly round-up. Thank you again for all your support – I love reading all your thoughts and comments.
