Real Techniques Core Collection: Review

I have only re-entered into the world of liquid foundations in the last few months – for years L’Oréal’s True Match Mineral Foundation had been a firm staple.  However since stepping away from loose mineral powder foundation and branching out into liquid bases my world has been opened up to the extensive plethora of make-up brushes!

My favourite liquid foundation by far is the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation and I have been using the Real Techniques Expert Face Brush to apply this gorgeous foundation for an expert flawless finish. I also have the Real Techniques Stippling Brush which I love. It can be used to apply foundation however I tend to use it to apply blush to my cheeks – lovely brush.
So I decided to up my make-up brush game and my very helpful boyfriend found this 4-piece Real Techniques Core Collection on offer for a one-time limited offer on Amazon for £4.95!! Yes you read that right, I only paid £4.95 for this great brush set which would usually set you back around £21.99! I do love a good bargain!

These brushes come in a handy case and stand – perfect for travelling and storage.

Contour Brush – I have yet to venture into the current contouring trend. To be honest it scares me a bit as I have a couple of bronzers but I haven’t perfected my technique and tend to shy away from using them on my pale skin! I have however used this brush to apply blush and it gave some great results.

Pointed Foundation Brush – I found this brush difficult to use as I was used to buffing my foundation into my skin using the larger Expert Face Brush. This brush is quite small and flat: I found it good to place foundation onto the skin where it was needed but I found it difficult to blend into the skin – instead switching to the expert face brush. This will need some more experimenting to perfect my skills!

Detailer Brush – This is a great addition to my brush collection. I have used this to blend concealer which has achieved great flawless results. I think this would also be great for eyeshadow application or even lipstick! Great brush.

Buffing Brush – This is another lovely brush. I have used this to apply powder on top of my foundation – so soft and lovely to use.  This could also be used to apply foundation.

A great little collection which I managed to get at a bargain price! I love the metallic gold effect handles and the soft bristles of these brushes – very well made and they feel good to use.

What are your favourite make-up brushes?

xXx Em

  1. I love love love real technique brushes😍 I find the duo-fibre contour brush better for contouring because it’s not as harsh as the core collection contour brush! Rachel x
