So my boyfriend and I went into town over the bank holiday weekend and our credit cards had a bit of a flex! I enjoy buying new things but I am much more of an internet shopper rather than a physical shopper. I have been struggling with my energy levels and severe allergies recently which has really impacted on my ability to walk very far; therefore physically walking around shops really takes it out of me. However I have been trying out different prescription allergy meds recently and I was much more able to enjoy the shopping experience over the weekend – good news!
I live in a village on the outskirts of a lovely quaint historic market town which actually has some pretty good shops. I visited L’Occitane, Paperchase, Waterstones, Debenhams and of course Boots!
I will talk about the beauty/make up purchases in more detail further on in this post.
First the non beauty related items:
Paperchase – I love stationery and especially love the paperchase writing books; they have such a varied and wide selection of beautiful prints and designs to suit all ages and tastes. I love having pretty notebooks to write in – I fell in love with the above notebook with a turquoise background and the bold and beautiful eye print design. These notebooks are so well made, this one is an A6 size which I find perfect to carry in my handbag. The cover is made of flexible linen and contains 160 pages of ruled white paper and has a lovely black ribbon page marker. Set me back £7; just lovely.
Waterstones – If you have been reading my blog you may know that I have been getting into adult colouring-in books recently. I love being creative and I find colouring-in quite relaxing and therapeutic – perfect activity for me to do to wind down and at the end of it you have created a pretty picture! This book was £9.95 and is called ‘Secret Garden’ it has beautifully intricate drawings inside which have a garden theme (lots of owls which I love). I have recently been using ink pencils to try out different colour intensities and textures with my colouring – will blog more about this when I have finished my first creation 😊.
Debenhams – Over the bank holiday weekend Debenhams had a big sale on. I actually ordered this online for next day delivery in store as I find Debenhams don’t tend to stock my dress size in store but they do online. Both of these dresses are from Mantaray. I fell in love with the designs, the pink dress in particular as it has a gorgeous blue bird pattern design. I thought these dresses would be good for the summer.
I am a massive fan of L’Occitane products – a luxurious French brand which use natural ingredients to produce indulgent body, skincare and perfume products.
I went into L’Occitane to claim my free gift which is the box on the left. The free gift contains sample sizes of Verbena shower gel and body lotion, rose hand cream, shea foot cream, and a soap. However, as I entered the shop I was drawn to the perfume stand and this cute lilac bottle of Figuier and Osmanthus scent. I was looking for a summery fragrance and had already walked away from some new scents in Boots and Marks and Spencer; this L’Occitane one is just gorgeous. This perfume has top notes of juicy blackcurrant, bergamot and ripe figs and mellows with tones of apricot and osmanthus flower – perfect summer fragrance; I love it. This 30ml bottle costs £28, however my free gift contained a £10 off voucher on this particular perfume, therefore I got it for the bargain price of £18!
L – R:
Sally Hansen – 18k Gold Cuticle Eraser
I have not tried this before and I have never tried anything by Sally Hansen. I hope this can sort out my annoying dry cuticles!
L’Oréal Lumi Magique in Light
I was looking for a new highlighting concealer and have heard good things about this one!
L’Oréal- Brow Artist Plumper – Light/Med
I have not tried this before and was looking for something new to try for my eyebrows – I hope this is a good colour match!
L’Oréal – Made for me Naturals Lipstick – 233 Taffeta
L’Oréal were on a 3 for 2 offer and for some reason this lipstick was hiding in my bag when I took the photo so it is not shown. This is a lovely natural cool toned pinky mauve lipstick – lighter on the lip than it looked in the bullet so I’m not sure if this is the right shade for me.
Rimmel – Rita Ora nail polish in Glaston Berry
This looked like a lovely pinky red orange summery colour. I have never tried any rimmel nail polishes so am intrigued to see how well it applies and lasts.
Essie – Apricot Cuticle Oil
I was running low on my beloved OPI Avoplex oil (which is a bit pricey!) and have heard good things about Essie nail care so I am hoping this will be a good cheaper alternative to the Avoplex oil.
Boots – Vitamin E – Eye Cream
I am looking to get a regular eye cream into my skincare routine so I wanted to try something which was low cost as a means of an introduction into using eye creams. I have very sensitive eyes so I have found that eye creams I have sampled thus far have irritated my eyes. Looking forward to giving this one a whirl!
Hope you have enjoyed my shopping spree and are enjoying the bank holiday weekend!
