Glossybox May 2015 – The Unveiling: Review

This is my second experience of the Glossybox monthly beauty box subscription. I was so excited to return home from the beach yesterday to see this waiting for me on my doorstep (luckily we have a good postman and neighbours therefore we knew it would be fine waiting for me as we live in the middle of nowhere; otherwise I would have had to pick it up from the Post Office Depot which is annoying as it involves going into town!).

Glossybox is always so beautifully packaged – last month was a theme of iconic Hollywood so the box had Marilyn Monroe on the front. This box is back to the regular packaging – however this is still beautiful. A gorgeous pastel hued pink glossy box with the classic bold black logo.

The box is also beautifully packaged inside with pale pink tissue paper and a cute black ribbon and distinctive logo sticker. There are also two information cards inside: one giving a sneak peak at what will be in next months box (flash tattoos sound intriguing!) and an information card about the products which have been exclusively picked for me from my beauty and make up preferences.

This month I have 5 products to try which have a loose theme of ‘summer’s calling’ including 2 full sizes and 3 good sample sizes.

L-R:

Zerreau Towel Off Shampoo Foam (sample size, full size is £7.95)

I have tried a couple of traditional dry spray shampoos which I have used at festivals or camping but they never gave my hair that fully refreshed feeling and often left a white powder unsightly residue so I tend to steer clear of these.

This product however is different. I have been trying to wash my hair less frequently in general as I have very thick long hair and tend to wash daily (I know, I know, not the best thing for my hair!) so I have been trying to ‘re-train’ my hair by leaving a least a day between washes – it does however look and feel greasy and unclean quickly. I used this foam shampoo this morning to freshen up my hair I between washes and I have to say I was impressed!

I wasn’t sure how a foam consistency would work – you apply a generous amount of foam to the hair and massage into roots and scalp to lift off grease and dirt and then immediately towel dry to remove the foam. The foam has a gorgeous subtle fresh apple scent and worked really well to refresh and clean by hair. Leaving no trace or stickiness! I am impressed. Will definitely be trying this again.

MeMeMe Enchanted Eyes Dual Ended Eye Wand (full size product worth £6.95)

This is a full size double ended blue eyeliner. One end is a deep turquoise blue, the other a lighter blue. The texture and consistency is very light and creamy which can be blended without much difficulty. I have hazel colour eyes which change from green to gold to yellow tones so I am not sure how blue will suit me but looking forward to giving this a try!

Etre Belle Aloe Vera Ultra Moisturising Gel (full size product worth £15.93)

This is a cooling gel with Aloe Vera which seems perfect for using in the summer months to soothe the skin. This has a watery gel consistency which is a new type of formula to me – I am intrigued by this as I do have sensitive skin, especially in the summer.

SASS Intimate Perfect Skin Concentrate (sample size, full size product costs £12)

This is a skin treatment to use post-shave or post-wax to soothe the skin and reduce hair regrowth. This contains salicylic acid and fruit enzymes which exfoliate to prevent ingrown hairs. Sounds like an interesting product – and great for getting ready for summer!

Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Refreshing and Refining Moisturiser (sample size, full size product costs £35.50)

I have dipped into philosophy products off and on over the past 8 years. I am a big fan of their shower gels and have tried their original moisturiser Hope In A Jar which I loved but as i have aged my skin has become more sensitive and I found Hope In A Jar to irritate my skin causing redness so I stopped buying it.

I believe that this is an updated formulation so I am looking forward to giving this a go – it is packed with antioxidants and works to reduce the appearance of lines, discolouration and uneven texture, leaving skin hydrated, radiant and looking healthy ☺️

All in all a good interesting box with a range of different products and brands. Loving Glossybox 😀
